The forecast is hot and spicy for Bondi Junction this Saturday 10 November, with crowds of Hawaiian shirt-donning, flavour-enthusiasts expected to contribute to the Bring Flavour to Bland drive.

Hosted by Goose Island, in partnership with Jimmy Grants Bondi Junction, a flavour-inspiration drop-off point will be activated between 2pm-5pm, enticing Sydney to share flavour suggestions in return for a free Goose Island IPA to people aged 18+ and a newly-launched Jimmy Grants pork souvlaki, appropriately named The Fiery Greek.

Following direction from Australia’s latest internet sensation and General Manager of Bland Shire Council Ray Smith, Goose Island will accept items such as hot sauce and curry recipes, through to Red Hot Chilli Peppers memorabilia or a Spice Girls mixed tape—anything that will help spice up life in the Shire of Bland.

Visiting Bondi Beach last Friday as part of the campaign tour, Ray called on Sydney to get behind this initiative.

“We’ve had enough of living up to our name when it comes to what’s on our plates. As the GM of our Shire, I’m asking you to come down in your best flavoursome shirt and share anything that’s going to help give Bland that extra bit of flavour it needs,” said Ray Smith.

Ken Stout, President of Goose Island, said “As the brewers of full-flavoured IPA, we feel for Ray’s predicament and truly appreciate the need expressed by the people of Bland to inject some added flavour into their community. We’ll be doing everything we can to engage the nation on this important initiative, including the incentive of a free Goose Island IPA, because in the words of the great Ray Smith himself—Australians love nothing more than an ice-cold beer and a good yarn.”

Announced via video release, Bland Shire Council will be leveraging partnerships with Goose Island and souvlaki specialists Jimmy Grants to create the first ever Bland Flavour Festival in Bland on Saturday 17 November.

Items contributed this Saturday will help fuel inspiration for the free festival of full-flavoured beer, food and entertainment.

The event is happening at Jimmy Grants.
