Brazilian virtuoso, Chrystian Dozza will present an exciting program of guitar music from the last two centuries.

The concert will be divided in two parts:
The first, an exciting mix of Brazilian favourites by Villa Lobos; Garoto; Dilermando Reis; and Paulo Porto Alegre, who wrote and dedicated a new piece of music to Chrystian. The second, featuring Chrystian’s guitar works (including new pieces!), which are influenced by his travels around the world. Recalling the sounds of the English Renaissance in ‘John Dowland, his Pavan’ to Brazilian dances in ‘Baião de Dois’ to progressive rock in ‘Broken Dance’, this will be a concert of colour and variety.

The program will give the audience an overview of the variety of Brazilian rhythms such as Choro, Bossa Nova, Samba and the Brazilian Waltz. This is a not-to-be-missed concert experience!

How much should I pay?
The Melbourne Guitar Foundation is excited to present such engaging music in a “Pay What You Like” ticket model for this concert. We encourage you to pay what you can afford, any amount will be accepted.

"Chrystian Dozza is, today, one of the great compositional talents of Brazilian guitar. Chrystian's song catches the listener's attention by its diversified quality and, many times its innovative quality as well. There are many references in his music, but all of them adapted to his refined personal view. With his combination of formalism and freedom, Chrystian gives us pieces that will certainly make their way into the traditional repertoire of the Brazilian guitar scene.” - Sérgio Assad (famed Brazilian guitarist and composer).

"I love what Chrystian is doing! It is a fundamental contribution for guitar and for Brazilian music, through a modern and authorial repertoire. A work that is inspired and has a unique freshness, very pleasant to listen to and play. Brazilian instrumental music is richer with the collection of these wonderful pieces. I am filled with pride seeing this work done because there are only a few people who are creating original and interesting work. And this is worth its weight in gold.” - Paulo Bellinati (famed Brazilian guitarist and composer)
