About Josie Boyle:
Josie Boyle is an Aboriginal Elder, Storyteller, Author, Painter and Musician who lives and works in Perth. Josie was part of the stolen generation and was taken from her family at age two, and sent to Mt Margaret Mission until the age of 16. Josie has published several books including ‘Mrs White and the Red Desert’, ‘Silence’, ‘The Spotty Dotty Lady’ and more. She has been featured in Documentaries such as ‘Surviving’ on SBS and Films including ‘Two Wise Men and the Seven Sisters’. In 2017, Boyle’s Creation story, ‘How Languages Came to Be’ opened the annual NAIDOC Week celebrations at the Goldfields Arts Centre and featured life-sized puppets designed, built and manipulated by Kalgoorlie-Boulder youth. Josie was also Miss Perth 1962.

Now 75, Josie frequently travels Western Australia performing in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. She is an acclaimed storyteller, singer and artist who has been enchanting children of all ages since the 1980s. She has made a number of recordings, worked as an artist in residence and been featured on ABC's 5 Nations' Dreaming stories. She is also a regular presenter in literature and music festivals across WA. In 2012, Josie published her first children's book, ‘Bubbay: A Christmas Adventure with Magabala Books.’

The Night:

The bar will be open from 5pm, coinciding with our 5:30–6:30pm Happy Hour (ie. 15% off all drinks plus free canapes).

At 6pm, we will sit down for authentic Bush Tucker prepared by our Head Chef who sourced local ingredients. Guests will be given a choice of three different meals. Details coming soon.

At 7pm we will move to the function room and join Josie for an unplugged performance (Both in English and her native Wongutha language).

At 8pm we will enjoy a Didgeridoo performance. Guests will also have an opportunity during this time to meet and greet with Josie and have signing of books & CDs.

At 8:30pm, Josie will perform some of her original songs as a group. Guest appearances will be joining Josie on stage.
