One of Melbourne's most captivating singers, Jackie Bornstein is known for her rich tones and ability to get to the heart of a tune. A fixture on the Melbourne jazz scene, Jackie brings a powerful energy to each performance. With "Dear Billie", Jackie and her top band celebrate one of the greatest jazz singers of all time; Billie Holiday. Holiday expressed a depth of emotion like no other, took a stand for human solidarity and created a lasting musical legacy.

Paying homage to the great Lady Day, Jackie performs a selection of her personal favourites from Holiday's iconic recordings. Featuring the classic Holiday signature songs "Body And Soul" and "Strange Fruit", Holiday's own compositions including "Don't Explain" and "Stormy Blues", plus tunes from Holiday's discography composed by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Cole Porter. Also featuring the talents of Carl Mackey (saxophone), James Sherlock (guitar), Philip Rex (bass) and Hugh Harvey (drums).

Jackie Bornstein (voice)
Known for her rich tones and ability to get to the heart of a tune, Jackie has become a fixture on the Melbourne Jazz scene. A regular at Melbourne's top jazz venues, Jackie secured sellout shows at the 2018 and 2017 Melbourne International Jazz Festival. She performs with a selection of Australia's finest musicians and captivates audiences with her emotive delivery and beautiful tone.

Carl Mackey (saxophone)
Carl Mackey has been on the professional jazz scene since the age of 16. A musician with broad experience, both in Australia and overseas, Carl has played with the likes of Terell Stafford, Lionel Hampton, Bernie McGann, Don Burrows, James Morrison, Barney McAll, Mark The Yellowjackets, the Beastie Boys, Beck, The Waifs and more.

James Sherlock (guitar)
James is one of Australia’s most exciting guitarists, a true craftsman of songs possessing beauty and depth. He has performed with the MSO, guitar virtuoso Martin Taylor, Katie Noonan, New York jazz vocalist Sheila Jordan, French jazz singer and rising star Cyrille Aimee, and a list of Australia’s finest.

Philip Rex (bass)
Philip is one of the most virtuosic and sought-after double bassists in the country. He has worked with many of the greatest musicians in Australia and overseas including Renee Geyer, Joe Camilleri, Paul Grabowsky, Vince Jones, Joe Lovano, Johnny Griffin, Eddie Henderson, Joe Williams and Cindy Blackman.
