Australia’s original provocative ideas summit, the Festival of Dangerous Ideas, returns. From sex robots to sex clowns, an impressive line-up of speakers and artists will converge in Sydney from around the world to dissect the dangerous ideas informing our future.

With speakers as diverse as writer, thinker and raconteur Stephen Fry, to ex-Westbro Baptist Church member Megan Phelps-Roper, this year’s dangerous thinkers come together under the themes of Truth and Trust.

International speakers include conservative historian and political commentator Niall Ferguson, historian and author Pankaj Mishra, public defender turned LSD micro-dosing experimentalist Ayelet Waldman and pop culture critic Chuck Klosterman. Provocateur and author Germaine Greer and rock star of AI Toby Walsh will be amongst the local speakers.

Given that some ideas are better seen than heard, this year’s festival will also include a great selection of ‘Dangerous Art’ from Sex Clown Betty Grumble to the Australian premiere of the Royal Court’s Manwatching.

Festival passes and tickets to ‘The Hitch’ with Stephen Fry at Sydney Town Hall are on sale now. All festival passes include transport to and from the island on a dedicated FODI Ferry. With a limited number of festival passes on sale, book now to avoid missing out.
