Festival of Small Halls is a series of tours that takes the best folk and contemporary acoustic artists performing at two of our country’s largest festivals, and sends them on the road to tiny halls in communities all over Australia. It is produced by Woodfordia Inc in partnership with many other wonderful Australian festivals, regional partners and great lovers and supporters of folk and contemporary acoustic music. It’s an opportunity for music-lovers from welcoming communities to invite artists from Home and Abroad into their towns, and a way of exploring this vast country in the spirit of hospitality and great fun.

The village of Woolbrook began as a settlement in 1836 over the land that was called Surveyor’s Creek Run, which covered 40,000 acres and included the sites of future Woolbrook and Walcha Road.

At present, visitors head to Woolbrook for the annual Woolbrook Stampede held every Easter, featuring horse sports such as campdrafting as well as other novelty events. Swimming, fishing and picnicking along the banks of the Macdonald River are popular activities in the area.

For information on attractions and accommodation in the area please visit Walcha website. The Woolbrook Festival of Small Halls show will be supported by local act Tony Kennelly.

Tony Kennelly is a cattle farmer with a musical history dating back to the 80’s. A performer six nights a week and a concreter by day, Tony eventually put down his guitar to focus on his business and raising his family in the beautiful northern tablelands of NSW. 30 years later, Tony sat down to write a song for his son, and another for his youngest daughter. The flood gates opened, music and lyrics came pouring out and Tony’s debut album, Hittin’ The Wall, was born.

Featuring soulful folk singer Claire Anne Taylor and folk powerhouse pair The Small Glories—Cara Luft & JD Edwards.
