Playing dates at WOMADelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Womad NZ, this is a world first tour, not to be missed!

A live sound clash with a difference, bringing roots reggae, dub and dancehall together with son, salsa and rumba The Havana Meets Kingston band boasts a world-class lineup of musicians: the legendary rhythm section of Sly & Robbie and band leader Mista Savona (keys), are joined by Barbarito Torres (tres/laud) and Rolando Luna (piano) from the Buena Vista Social Club, Julito Padron from Irakere (trumpets/vocals), Yaroldy Abreu from Chucho Valdes (percussion), Randy Valentine (vocals), Brenda Navarette (vocals/percussion), Solis (vocals), Bopee from Inna de Yard (guitar), Oliver Valdes (percussion) and a supporting Australian Horn section.

The innovative, culture-centric Havana Meets Kingston album—which was released on November 3rd this year—paired legendary and emerging Cuban and Jamaican musicians to re-imagine classic songs and create new compositions, all infused with Jamaican reggae and dancehall as well as traditional Cuban and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Havana Meets Kingston is the first full-length project to present the blended sounds of these two distinct island nations supported by an all-star cast of musicians.

The album has received rave reviews and chart recognition on both Billboard’s Reggae & World Music Charts and Top 5 on iTunes World Charts in Canada, USA, Switzerland, Germany and France on debut with Huffington Post declaring “All I can say is wow! What a great album. If you miss Havana Meets Kingston, there’s something wrong somewhere. This album will grace many if not most Best Album of the year lists”.

In Australia, taste-makers Double J, 2SER and PBS have given it Feature Album status, with other stations such as Triple R and Radio Adelaide also delivering strong support, while The Australian and The Music both gave Havana Meets Kingston 4 star reviews, with The Music stating "'Havana Meets Kingston' seriously has no business being as funky as it is.".

For generations, Cuba and Jamaica have been at the forefront of trends in music, art, fashion and food throughout the Americas. Havana Meets Kingston meshes these musical pathways, effortlessly blending Cuban rhythms and melodies with reggae's rumbling basslines and hypnotic drums. The result is an exceptional listening experience and what promises to be an unforgettable live experience.
