It was Australia’s King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, the late Johnny O’Keefe, who discovered John Anthony Hurley who was drunk and singing and playing the piano in a Sydney hotel talent quest at the age of 14. In those days it was illegal to be on licensed premises under the age of 21. Young Johnny Hurley won the talent quest and the very next week, after changing his name from John to Jade, J’Ok introduced him on the ABC Rock ‘n’ Roll television show “6 O’clock Rock”.

O’Keefe produced Jade’s first album and named it…and Jade…“Australia’s King of Country Rock”. The title has stuck.

Then it was the legendary Johnny Cash who stated quite openly that Jade Hurley was the best act he had ever worked with and was quoted in the Irish Press as saying: “If I wasn’t who I am, I would find it very hard to follow him on any stage anywhere in the world…he’s one hell of a showman and entertainer this Aussie…and he can sure play that damn piano.”

In September 1998, Jade was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his charitable work with The Australian Cancer Foundation for Medical Research, the Arthritis Foundation, the Cancer Foundation, the Heart Foundation and many-many more. His efforts have resulted in the raising of many millions of Dollars.

Today, his vibrant show includes classics including “Rockin’ All Over The World”, “Old Time Rock & Roll”, “Running Bear”, “Peggy Sue”, “Great Balls Of Fire”, “Runaway”, “You Raise Me Up”, his wonderful piano instrumental "Chariots Of Fire" and of course his own number 1 hits—“Down In The Riverina”, “It’s All Over Now”, and his latest Smash Hit off his huge selling “Naked” CD, “I Don’t Look Good Naked Anymore”.

“I Don’t Look Good Naked Anymore” currently has an extraordinary 120.000 views on YouTube and climbing by the day. As well as being a headline act in his own right, Jade Hurley has toured with some of the all-time greats including Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash, Johnny Ray, Woody Herman and Don Williams, as well as Johnny O’Keefe throughout Ireland, America, New Zealand and Australia.

He continues to present his high energy Rock & Roll and Country Music show to packed audiences and standing ovations.
