Have you ever wanted to try pottery wheel throwing? Then this beginner pottery wheel blast is for you. No experience is required and all materials are included in the workshop fee.

The part of learning to use the pottery wheel is getting an introduction to the 3 principle steps of: preparing your clay, centering your clay, shaping your clay. In our workshop Part 1 Prepare, Centre and Shape, you will be introduced to these three steps through demonstration and hands on practise throwing simple shapes and cylinders on the potter wheel. Be prepared to get addicted!

Who can attend?
This class is for adults + kids over 8 are welcome to attend with a parent/guardian, making this a great family creative activity. Each person attending, whether a child or an adult, will need to be enrolled and pay the class fee.

Our Ceramics studio
Our professionally managed and purpose built pottery and ceramics studio is equipped with 8 pottery wheels (Venco), dedicated handbuilding stations, slab roller, extruder, glaze and kiln rooms. The studio has 3 electric kilns and all firing occurs on the premises managed by the studio coordinator. A good selection of glazes are available for student use. Painting, Drawing and Ceramics Classes for Everyone in Sydney’s Inner West
Art Est. offers a boutique learning experience for adults, teens and children. Located in a spacious, light-filled heritage warehouse, with four dedicated teaching studios, an art gallery and a new ceramics studio. Our class sizes are kept to only 10–12 students (8 for wheel throwing pottery), ensuring each student receives the individual tuition they need.

Art classes for adults are available weekdays, evenings and Saturday mornings. We also have a great range of single day weekend art workshops available, a perfect option for visitors to Sydney looking for things to do, or for someone who doesn’t have time to commit to a term class.

Kids and Teens can build their creative skills at our after school and Saturday term classes as well as our school holiday workshops each and every holiday.
