Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Jook Joint Band and Izzy.

"The Perth Folk and Roots Club has a summer line-up of music with long time supporters the Jook Joint band and Izzy at Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club," said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Jook Joint Band is a jug band at heart and they have been wowing audiences with their renditions of old time blues, skiffle and ragtime music in and around Western Australia for the past ten years. They are a five-piece band and play a variety of instruments in the tradition of jug bands ranging from the jug, washboard, ukulele, 6 & 12 string guitars, acoustic bass, stand up drums and harmonica. Their repertoire draws from an ever growing list of originals plus covers from the likes of Lead Belly, Memphis Jug Band, C.W. Stoneking, Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Blind Boy Fuller. They have played at the Bridgetown Blues Festival, Fairbridge Festival, Boddington Music Festival and throughout the State at many other festivals including the Canning Show, Fremantle Heritage Festival, East Fremantle George St Festival, Waroona Show, Mukinbudin Spring Festival, Folk and Roots at the Perth Cultural Centre to name a few. You can also catch them playing at pubs and bars in and around Perth and Fremantle.

Izzy is a female drummer come guitarist who has played with a number of roots based bands including Kim Bettenay and the Passing Strays and the Moonshine Stills. Izzy is known as a two hand Texas shuffle blues drummer. Izzy has played at Moondyne Joes and shows are also planned for A Day in the Forrest festival in Glenn Forrest on 15 December 2018. Izzy plays laid back acoustics roots music with a picking style reminiscent of Greenwhich Village folk music and is inspired by Mississippi John Hurt and Bob Dylan.

"As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience," Keith added.
