McKenzies Auctioneers is excited to present a rare collection of 19 Pro Hart original artworks to be
offered at auction for genuine sale.

This rare collection of artworks has never previously been sold. They were all gifted by Pro to his friend, a priest, over a number of years, when he would visit, and they would discuss life, philosophy, religion etc. McKenzies has sold many Pro Hart works over the years but this collection has examples that the proprietor, Peter McKenzie, has never seen the likes of before.

For example, lot 10, a series of eighteen small vignettes plus a signature panel, painted in 1985. All
pieced together in one frame, they present an overview of the artists range. His ubiquitous dragonfly, ants, waterbirds and landscapes make this a very collectable piece.

Another rarity is lot 5, depicting two men holding glasses, no doubt full of beer and likely a tavern scene. Titled, ‘Corny Bill’, this was painted in 1978. Painted against the light in the chiaroscuro manner, using extreme contrast between light and shade, this is painted using a palate knife which is again, a very rare technique for the artist.

Peter McKenzie comments, “Pro Hart, in some ways, is one of Australia’s most famous artists,
recognized by more Australians than any other Australian artist. We all remember him from his carpet ad when his cleaner exclaimed, “Mr Hart”, at the prospect of having to clean up his large dragonfly he had constructed upon the carpet using various foodstuffs.

"As he passed away some 12 years ago now, it is unlikely such a choice will be available in the
foreseeable future."

Pre-auction viewings will also take place in the auctioneers rooms from 11am to 4:30pm on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November as well as Monday 26th November from 11am to 5:30pm, or online at the website.

Telephone or absentee bids can be arranged by contacting McKenzie’s Auctioneers on (08) 9385 4180 or emailing on
