Little Ones Theatre is a queer independent theatre company based in Melbourne that has been producing work nationally since 2012.

They make bold, visual, and highly physical interpretations of literary and theatrical classics with a queer aesthetic.

Theatre Works and Little Ones are offering emerging artists the opportunity to undertake a two day masterclass with the company.

The masterclass will offer insights into the company’s devising process, focusing on building theatrical images through performance and design elements. Sessions throughout will be led by Director Stephen Nicolazzo, Set and Costume Designer Eugyeene Teh, and Lighting Designer Katie Sfetkidis. There will also be an opportunity to work with Little Ones Theatre's sound designer and composer Daniel Nixon.

The masterclass will be broken into four sections: Directing Image and Text Based Theatre, Independent Theatre Practice, Pre-production processes and the artistic development of Little Ones works. This will broken down into the key areas that inform the development of a Little Ones Show: Direction, Design, Adaptation.

It will conclude with an open forum discussing practical strategies to run an independent theatre company, including programming, funding, and touring. The focus of these sessions will be to gain an understanding of the creative process of design and how it influences the way in which directors build worlds and establish a unique visual style in performance.

This Two-Day Masterclass will run from:
Saturday 2 June // 10 am - 3 pm
Sunday 3 June // 11 am - 3 pm
