Save Kosci and Reclaim Kosci will be hosting a protest walk from Charlotte’s Pass to the top of Mt Kosciuszko, with registration commencing from 7:30am for an 8:30am start.

You may already have heard about us. Save Kosci is a group of 325+ people who are walking all or part of a 560 km route from Sydney to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko to protest against NSW’s recently passed Kosciuszko Wild Horse Heritage Act 2018. We are very concerned about the implications of the Act for the future of Kosciuszko National Park. The Act, passed in June 2018, gives special protection to feral horses in the park. This is despite strong evidence of the serious threat posed by this non-native animal to important water catchments and native alpine plant and animal species – some of which are endangered and found nowhere else in the world. The Reclaim Kosci campaign shares these concerns.

Both Reclaim Kosci and Save Kosci are seeking the repeal of this harmful Act and the implementation of humane control of the unsustainably large and growing population of feral horses in the park.

Please join us to cheer on the long-distance walkers on their final day and to support the protection of Kosciuszko’s rare and beautiful alpine environment. You can walk all or part of the 19km route with us.

In case of inclement weather, the alternative date for the walk will be Saturday, 8 December. Walkers will be advised if a date change is required by 5 or 6 December, based on weather forecasts.
