McKenzies Auctioneers is excited to present a significant Western Australian Collection for auction. The collection will feature important WA colonial furniture, wine, clocks, Aboriginal art and French furniture.

The rare auction includes the most important collection of Western Australian colonial furniture to come to the market for many years. Colonial Western Australia was a place of relative hardship where fine locally crafted furniture was not a priority. This is what makes the collection so rare, coupled with the fact that very few of these items survived.

Local timbers were used including jarrah and sheoak and a rarity amongst the collection is lot 97, an upholstered settle of Banksia wood. This sale is perhaps the last time such a collection offering such choice will come onto the market.

Lots 4 – 67, is a collection of Aboriginal art. Many of these were from the Mossenson Galleries. It includes artworks from the well-known Aboriginal artist, Shane Pickett 1957 – 2010. Pickett proudly identified with the Nyoongar culture. His work is held in numerous public and private collections, including the AGWA, AGNT, The National Gallery, The W.A Museum et. al.

The appealing catalogue also highlights 25 Antique clocks. The largest and best such collection to be offered in Perth in living memory. Most of the clocks are French but some are of English origin such as:

Lot 140.
A French Louis XVI style Lyne-shaped mantle clock late 19th century, Est: $2,000–3,000.

Lot 141.
A fine French gilt bronze mantle clock, 19th century. The dial marked, ‘Denier A Paris’, Est: $2,500–5,000

Lot 160.
An English Georgian bracket clock, having a mahogany case and brass fret work. C.1800, Est: $1,500–2,500.

Pre-auction viewings will take place from 11am–4pm on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September as well as Monday 17th September from 11am–4:30pm.
