Plant exploration and introduction is one of the oldest activities of mankind. The Plant Hunters were not just botanists, they were adventurers and explorers.
They had to be tough to survive the conditions they faced in far-flung corners of the world. They survived shipwrecks, sieges, slavery and battled with pirates and escaped convicts.
The history of the plant collections at Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is enriched in this fascinating history. You'll learn about the secrets entwined in the plant collections during this presentation and Curator-led tour, while enjoying the beauty of Garden's autumn colour.
The tour departs from the Chris Steele Scott Pavilion (best accessed via the Lower Carpark off Lampert Road). Download a map for more information.
This tour is running as part of South Australia's History Festival, which runs through May 2018.
