Summer is set to sizzle across the City of Nedlands as the annual Summer Concerts in the Park series celebrates its 21st anniversary.

Get into the groove every Sunday in February from 5:30pm to 7pm with some swingin’ soulful sounds at a free gig in one of the City’s many picturesque parks.

With a top Perth band every week, children’s activities including face-painting and a bouncy castle and food including pizza, ice cream and a sausage sizzle (or you can BYO a picnic), it’s an ideal way to round off a summer weekend.

The suave and sophisticated Little Belle kick things off at Floreat’s Lawler Park on 4 February, delivering their uniquely versatile blend of musical styles from all genres, matched with a vivacious and classy attitude.

Their range covers everything from acoustic to rock and the stylings of Aretha Franklin, The B-52s, ABBA to Bruno Mars, Cold Chisel, Fleetwood Mac, Maroon 5, Michael Jackson, Missy Higgins and Pink.

Head to Mason Gardens in Dalkeith on 11 February as Adam Hall and The Velvet Playboys deliver the pizazz of all that jazz and best rhythm and blues music from the ’40s and ’50s.

Renowned for captivating live performances, their inspiration comes from artists such as Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima, Sammy Davis Jr, Harry Connick Jr, Jackie Wilson, Chuck Berry and The Blues Brothers, enabling to them to deliver the essence of one of music’s golden ages.

Slim Jim and The Phatts come to Swanbourne’s Allen Park on 18 February, ready to deliver the best party classics whether you’re aching for the ’80s or love the latest and greatest from the Top 40.

Fronted by the incomparable Slim Jim, the band has been on the Perth music scene in various incarnations for more than 20 years and always delivers a performance with the dial up to 10.

On 25 February, Dot Bennett Park in Nedlands is the place to be as Flash Nat and the Action Men put their groovy boots on and get ready to boogie on down to plenty of funky stuff as they deliver plenty of ’80s soul, disco funk, rock’n’roll and popular hits.

Songstress Natalia has a voice that has been compared to the world’s top divas and is backed by a band with years of experience across the Perth music scene, ready to electrify the stage.

City of Nedlands Mayor Max Hipkins said he was pleased with the wonderful variety of musical treats scheduled for the 21st anniversary of Summer Concerts in the Park.

“It’s testament to the popularity of this annual event that people have been flocking to our parks each year for more than two decades to enjoy what’s on offer,” he said.

“We like to keep the atmosphere fun by making each concert a relaxing family-friendly evening under the sun, matched with kids’ activities, so there’s a fully-rounded program of entertainment on offer.

“There’s such a vibe at all our Summer Concerts in the Park and it’s to the credit of everyone involved that we are now celebrating a 21-year legacy.”
