The Funaddicts is a 2nd wave Ska band from Brisbane, Australia who emerged in the mid-80's and quickly gained a solid reputation for high energy ska gigs around the East coast of Australia. Taking inspiration from the British and Australian bands of the time like The Specials, Madness, The Beat, Bad Manners, Allniters and Strange Tenants, the Funaddicts attempted to combine the fun and frivolity of Ska/Reggae with politically based lyrics, best exemplified in songs like Mandela, Greed & Power and Queensland, while toons like What's Going On and All Day Till Midnight showcased their nuttier good-time side. In 1987, the band scored a #1 position on the 4zzz charts for their independently released single “Mandela/What’s Going On?, the latter winning a Qld Sunnie Award for best original song.
