The Sticker Club are ABC Kids' newest release.

The band, from Sydney, have created a debut album which echoes the bubblegum pop of late 60s cartoon bands like the Archies mixed with the indie-rock pedigree of the band members. The band are Nellie Afford (from Agnes Kain), Nic Dalton (Plunderers, Lemonheads), Alison Galloway (Smudge), Ben Whitten (Intercontinental Playboys) and Damien Cassidy (The Argon Room, Faker).

The Sticker Club formed in 2012 when local musician Nic Dalton realised he had written a whole stack of songs for his toddlers and should put a “kids” band together. He asked Alison Galloway, Nellie Afford and his friend Ben Whitten; they also roped in their three young daughters to help along the proceedings with extra singing and trombone, clarinet and tuba. The three girls have since quit (“we don’t want to be in a kid’s band”) and have been replaced by Damien “Dizzy” Cassidy on the bass.

The Sticker Club have been recording their debut over the last few years, which keeps getting stalled due to more babies being added to the mix. The band, who play the regular “It’s A Family Affair” at the Petersham Bowling Club and have also played at the Dress Up Attack Festival in 2012 (supporting Justine Clarke), the Summer Hill School and Yeo Park Infants fetes and the Inner West Music Festival, describe themselves as “a bit different to other kids’ bands because we’ve got the double wah wah guitars and we’re quite rock and roll, kind of like 60s garage meets Don Spencer.”

The sixteen track album. Recorded and mixed by Tim Kevin (Holly Throsby producer) is now complete and will be released digitally through ABC Kids and on CD from Half A Cow Records.

Other bands on the day will be:
The 3'n'3 Jazz Combo
The Rollin' Rockers
The Likes Of You
