Escape into a world full of wizardry and fantasy this January to June with the Australian production of The Wizard Of Oz – The Musical. Having already enchanted Brisbane, the critically-acclaimed musical will next cast its spell over Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.

Leading the cast are none other than revered musical theatre actor Anthony Warlow who plays the role of Professor Marvel/The Wizard Of Oz; Lucy Durack as Glinda the good witch; Jemma Rixx as the Wicked Witch of the West and of course, Samantha Dodemaide who portrays the role of Dorothy. They, together with the entire stellar cast, make for a stage spectacle like no other.

Tracing its origin from a 1939 American film of the same title, The Wizard of Oz first landed to the stage in Chicago in 1902. Several adaptations were made after that but it is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s and Tim Rice’s version that is deemed closest to the original film. Their production opened in 2011 at London Palladium. Now, it’s Australia’s turn to witness the story of a misunderstood girl named Dorothy who, after accidentally hitting her head on the bedside, suddenly found herself hurdling obstacles and meeting friends in the magical land of Oz. Would she be able to come back home? That’s the question.
