Settle in for a night of musical toots, comedy hoots and burlesque boots in the tradition of Vaudeville and Music Hall from the early 1900's. Grab a kazoo and get ready to get silly as you sing, hum and laugh at 'Welcome to the Music Hall'. Tickets on sale now and selling fast!

In the tradition of Vaudeville and Music Hall from the early 1900s, The Old Married Couple presents ‘Welcome to the Music Hall’, a Vaudeville Variety Show at La Boheme every night at 11pm from the 15th-18th of February for the Adelaide Fringe Festival. The vintage-styled novelty duo will act as guides through a night of outrageous, honest and light-hearted kazoo filled novelty jazz songs. The show includes special performances by burlesque vixen Viola Verve and physical comedian/mime artist Rod Lara in a Vaudeville Variety Show with toots, hoots, mutes and some naughty humour to boot.

‘Welcome to the Music Hall’ is a show rooted in the Vaudeville traditions of variety, comedy, novelty songs, dancing and chanting singalongs for a modern world.

After successfully touring the show across Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT, The Old Married Couple are bringing their 4-piece Dixie-jazz band, kazoos, vintage outfits, silly songs, comedy and special guest performers to La Boheme for the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

Grab a kazoo, and be ready to get silly as you sing, hum and laugh at La Boheme.

The Old Married Couple
The Old Married Couple are the faces of new vintage, playing Dixieland style music with a vaudevillian twist that would be at home in the Music Halls of the 19th century. The Old Married Couple sing silly dancing songs about sex, co-dependency, anxieties about babies and swinging (like playing swing music of course…). A night of double entendre and wit with vintage sights and sounds awaits you in the Music Hall. Taking cues from Musical comedy and cabaret legends like George Formby, Bette Midler, Marie Lloyd and Cole Porter, The Old Married Couple are spreading Toots and Hoots around the World.

Rod Lara
"Actor, physical comedian, mime artist, filmmmaker and visual artist—there's nothing this multi-talented performer can't turn his unique abilities to.” With a career spanning almost 20 years, Rod Lara has been hailed as a "Master of physical comedy and characterization". Rod strives to push the envelope with his unique brand of comedy, utilizing the skills of physical comedy, circus arts, mime and dance. He may perform in silence, but it's the audience who are left speechless!

One of Rod's many characterizations is his impersonation of the Little Tramp. Character originated by cinema icon, Charlie Chaplin. As of late, Rod has been traveling his shows with his character Banjo. The ever lovable klutz has been a success with both kids and adults alike. Rod is looking forward to bringing these characters to life as part of ‘Welcome to the Music Hall’.

Viola Verve
Viola Verve delights the senses with decadence & sensuality. Her performances are diverse in their range, from romantic vintage classics, to eccentric, bold neo's.

Viola has performed in the Adelaide Fringe festival the last few years, placed 2nd in AAPC's Burlesque Beauty (Professional Division) 2017, placed in the top 5 in Miss Burlesque South Australia 2016, and is a regular performer in various venues throughout Adelaide. She has been titled with AAPC Pinup Poser 2016, Miss Deeds 2016 & Burlesque Beauty - Miss Congeniality 2015.
Viola has been producing burlesque shows over the last few years, including the sell out Adelaide Fringe productions 'Deco Dolls' (2016) & 'A Burlesque Teaser' (2017).
