Thousands of people around the world will be coming together to celebrate World Nordic Walking Day promoting fun and fitness.

Come along to Canberra’s first Nordic Walking festival and learn why Nordic Walking is one of the world’s fastest growing, super-effective and easy-to-learn health activities—that is suitable for all ages and abilities.

It’s a free event. The Finnish Embassy, along with partners the Heart Foundation and Capital Nordic Walking are hosting a fun-filled morning in the spirit of the Finnish Crazy Games—with plenty to see and do and loads of prizes. While enjoying Finnish food and refreshments, you will have plenty of time to learn about Nordic Walking and Finland. Those with poles can enter the 7km Nordic Walking Invitation Challenge—the first ever Nordic Walking race in Australia, or partake in the Social Nordic Walk and Talk.

There will also be plenty to do for people who are not using poles. They are welcome to stroll along with the Social Nordic Walk and Talk group and learn about why they took up Nordic Walking. There is also an opportunity to “feel the Nordic Walking muscles” for yourselves during a demonstration by Canberra's very own Capital Nordic Walking.

Although the event is free we encourage you to make a donation to the Heart Foundation—our partner organisation for the event in support of their work to reduce suffering and death from heart, stroke and blood vessel disease. You can do this online when you register or on the day.
