The Adelaide Central Market invites guests to travel back in time to sample the flavours, sights and sounds over the past 150 years of the market’s history.

150 Years of the Market: A Time Traveller’s Feast will explore the Market’s rich food culture, through its changing multicultural trader community and how this has influenced the Market’s produce and expanded the culinary tastes of South Australian’s over the years.

Adelaide Central Market: Stories, People and Recipes co-author Katie Spain will MC the lunch, which will be curated by fellow co-author Fiona Roberts and prepared by seven renowned local chefs featured in the book, including Karena Armstrong from the Salopian Inn, Lachlan Colwill from Hentley Farm, Tony Hart from the Intercontinental, Jordan Theodoros from Peel Street, Matteo Carboni of Casa Carboni, Eddie Ye from Yakitori Takumi and Brad Sappenberghs from Comida.

Market traders involved in the event include Samtass Bros Seafood, O’Connell’s Meat, Wills & Daniel, Dough, Say Cheese, Barossa Fine Foods, Con’s Fine Food, The Coffee Bean Shop and TBAR. The Adelaide Central Market is teaming up with corporate drinks partners Seppeltsfield, Coopers and Bickford’s, bringing together South Australia’s oldest and most iconic brands, whose histories all date back to the late 1800’s. Guests will enjoy beverages complementing the ingredients and dishes of each era, for a unique and memorable culinary journey.

Serving staff will be dressed in attire from each era, and guests are encouraged to dress up according to their favourite era. Ray Dahdah from Out in the Paddock is overseeing the event curation and styling to ensure a truly immersive experience. With a capacity of only 150 people and tickets at $295 (plus booking fee) per person, spaces are limited and those interested in attending are encouraged to book now to avoid missing out.
