Amazing Grace Advance Screening

The never-before-seen music documentary capturing the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, as she records the most successful gospel album of all time, Amazing Grace with James Cleveland and the Southern California Community Choir.

Recorded at The New Bethel Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles in January 1972, Amazing Grace is crafted from never-before-seen footage that captures an elegiac moment in American musical history whilst saluting the get-up-on-your-feet gospel heritage that transformed American music in the 1960s.

Join us for an advance screening on Friday 23 August at 6:30pm, featuring a performance from the WAAPA Gospel Choir prior to the film screening at 7:00pm. Enjoy a variety of special drinks available for purchase from the pop-up bar.

The Sydney Pollack directed film was long-shelved but is now finally seeing a release in the wake of Franklin's death. Replete with never-before-seen footage and candid glimpses of a true musical genius, Amazing Grace is an ode to Aretha as well as the vital gospel music movement within the 60s and 70s America.
