Art Out of The Box – Fundraising Art Exhibition for Domestic Violence Prevention Charity Safe Haven Community.

On the 6th of March 2019, (two days before International Women's day), the inaugural Art Out of The Box exhibition will be held at Soapbox Beer in Fortitude Valley. It is no mistake that the Art Out of The Box event is so close to International Women's Day. Thousands of Women in our local community are at risk of violence and homelessness due to escalating levels of domestic abuse.

The event is a collaboration between local artists and musicians, the recently opened Soapbox Brewery and Safe Haven Community, a charity with an innovative solution to help prevent domestic violence in our local community.

Paul Ferry, Executive Director of the Charity said: "The event is designed to increase community awareness around the problem of domestic violence and to encourage ordinary members of the community to be a part of the solution by registering a spare room in their homes to help someone leave an abusive relationship before it escalates into physical violence."

Limited government funding is allocated to domestic violence response services and there is just not enough money being directed to prevention strategies. Safe Haven Community helps provide an earlier intervention program to help people leave abusive relationships sooner and avoid ending up on the critical list for refuge or shelter.

"Everyone deserves to be safe and happy, and we the community can help to provide that," Paul said.

The event will bring the community together to enjoy a craft beer and a bite to eat, purchase exclusive art, listen to awesome local musicians, win raffle prizes and maybe even make some new friends, all while helping a charity.

All ticket sale proceeds will be donated to Safe Haven Community.

We have tickets available for sale via TryBooking. Tickets are anything from free entry to $50. The more you pay, the more raffle tickets you get, and there are some great prizes to be won. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Safe Haven Community.

Buy Art
Our artists will be selling their creations on the night, and at least 20% of their art sales will be donated to Safe Haven Community.
