Discover how to process your own nightscape and Milky Way astrophotography images in this single afternoon class. Learn the pieces of the software puzzle, and the process workflow that will help you navigate your way to mastering the art.
If you’ve taken photos of the Milky Way over beautiful landscape (or just the wide Milky Way sky on its own) and want to know how to get the most out of your images, this is the workshop for you. Starting at the beginner level we work through understanding image files to the steps you can take to process them.
Local WA Astrophotographer, Roger Groom, will be your guide as you discover:
- Overview of Astrophotography image processing workflow
- Understanding image file types and proper management of your image files
- Overview of software available and what part of image processing each suits
- Image manipulation basics including:
- Histogram
- Adjustment of levels, brightness and contrast
- Colour balancing
- Selective adjustment of saturation and vibrance
The format of this workshop will be a presentation heavily interwoven with live demonstrations using software for image processing. While you are welcome to bring a laptop or tablet to take notes or tinker with your own work at the time, we will not be working through examples using your own computers.
Recommended for children aged 15–16 years with a keen interest in photography. Members will be able to login to use your free or discounted tickets.
