A fun beginners jewellery class in the fabulous Sydney CBD Gaffa jewellery workshop upstairs from Ihnen Atelier.
Spend 2 Sunday mornings making your very own silver/precious metal ring. The first morning will be spent learning skills to carve a ring band model in specialised jewellery wax. Your model will then be sent to a commercial caster to be reproduced in either sterling silver or your choice of precious metal. The second Sunday will be spent finishing and polishing your metal ring! We can also arrange for some little gems to be set when the ring is completed!
The workshop is designed with a limit of 6 students per class to make sure each student is given the tuition they need. The class is taught by Melanie Ihnen who has over 12 years experience teaching private and group jewellery classes.
You will learn:
- Learned some basic jewellery casting skills such as wax filing and simple carving techniques.
- The casting process including how to make multiples of your design.
- Finishing and polishing techniques.
All tools usage and wax are included in the fee. An additional minimum of $30 will be required for casting and metal fees. Please note that larger rings requiring more metal, and the use of gold will incur a higher cost.
