This is not a ‘Nude’ show, although a lot of skin is showing.

In this exhibition Judy Rogers is showing fragmented views of the nude or semi nudes of bodies, paintings of body parts, female and male. The body is a play on words: a body of works but paintings of the human body. This show was brought to St Petersburg by the artist in a case as part of her luggage in 2018, so the body from the suitcase is a fitting description. Depictions of sexuality and the body are part of Rogers‘ visual vocabulary from the beginning.

The paintings and sculptures are reflections on personal space, domesticity, body issues, insecurities, sex, coming of age and ageing. This returning exhibition and some new works will be shown. Rogers is an internationally recognised Western Australian artist. Her most recent showing was in the Bangladesh National Gallery for the 18th Asian Art Biennale.

Mixed media paintings on board, watercolour paintings on paper and mixed media sculptures will be on show at Art Geo Gallery.

Public programs during the exhibition:
3 May: Exhibition Celebration Drinks for invited guests, 7:30pm
4 May: Introduction to portraiture workshop, 10am–1pm
5 May: Free artist talk, 11am–12noon
