Want to know a little secret history of Thick as Thieves?

Well, the next instalment of our #10YearsofTAT celebrates the beginning and the present of our Thick as Thieves journey. In true Thick as Thieves style we’re creating a 360 degree wall of entertainment and thrills to compliment a 5 hour Boogs retrospective set and a 2 hour show stopping set from Mike Toner’s cousin and emerging world DJ Rebuke.

Now back to the secret history, let Mike Toner reveal.

Boogs
"Not many people know this: The name "Thick as Thieves" comes from a good friend of ours who commented that Boogs and I were literally Thick as Thieves. When I first arrived in Melbourne in 2003, and experienced the magic that Boogs created at Revolver every Sunday morning week in week out, I immediately knew that he was put on this earth to do one thing. Over the next few years, through a mutual love of music, Boogs and I became best friends. Over the 10 year journey, it has made me super proud to see how our team has grown and developed. But in the very beginning…there was just two of us, Boogs and myself. Boogs is unquestionably the musical leader at TAT…the impact he has had as a dj in Melbourne over the past 20 years is unparalleled, and I could not be happier that one of my best friends was with me from the start. Boogs 5 hour set at this special event will be a journey through the 10 years of TAT that he has been at the forefront of."

Rebūke
"Not many people know this:
Ruben Keeney aka Rebuke is actually a 2nd cousin of mine, and we grew up in the same small town in Donegal, Ireland. Since we both figured out that we had a commen love of dance music, we became super close. Every time I would go back to Ireland, we would end up having dinner at our local Chinese Resturant, followed by a session listening to the new music Ruben was making in his studio. I actually toured Ruben back in 2011…which was more Ruben being on holiday and me pulling in a few shows for him. We made a promise back then that his next tour would be when he legitimately had made it. Over the next few years, every time I would go for dinner with Reuben, I would hear the massive potential he had, and come running back to my family saying "this is the year he is going to make it, 100%." It actually became a running joke among my brother and sister at home where they would pre empt me post dinner with Reuben saying "Let me guess Mike, this is the year Reuben is going to blow up." Words cannot begin to express how happy I am now for Reuben, watching him continually top the charts with every track he has put out of the last 8/9 months. His time has certainly come…"
