'Boyd Meets Girl' Classical Guitar & Cello Recital

This eclectic New York based Australian-US duo ‘Boyd Meets Girl’ consisting Rupert Boyd and Laura Metcalf kick off their 2019 Australian tour with a performance on the mountain at Springbrook, Gold Coast hinterland, sponsored by local foodies and ‘culturists’ The Springbrook Gastronomic Society.

Rupert’s ancestor is Arthur Boyd (b.1920 d.1999) the acclaimed Australian artist and member of the Boyd family artistic dynasty that included painters, sculptors, architects and other art professionals. Coincidently, Arthur was much taken with Springbrook and is known to have painted at Springbrook when visiting another highly acclaimed artist and close friend Albert Tucker and his wife Barbara.

Performing a mixture of Australian compositions and standard works from their ‘Boyd Meets Girl’ CD repertoire Rupert and Laura are both respected soloists in their own right. Boyd has played Carnegie Hall and been described as “truly evocative” by The Washington Post, and as "a player who deserves to be heard" by Classical Guitar Magazine, while Metcalf, also having played at Carnegie Hall as member of the ensembles Sybarite5 and Break of Reality, has been called "brilliant" by Gramophone.

Ticket options include recital only, recital with pre-performance nibbles or recital, nibbles and an interval main course all catered by local caterers Greenwood Farm.
