In the past six years, The Actors’ Hub has become something of a success story—and two of its most recent graduates are now represented by Australia’s top casting agents. Adam Leeuwenhart and Chris Tomaszewski completed The Gap training program at The Actors’ Hub in 2018, readying them for a career in the industry.

Leeuwenhart has signed with Morrissey Management—which also represents the Hemsworth brothers—and Tomaszewski has signed with Kermond Management, responsible for casting talent in Aquaman, Doctor Doctor, Neighbours and Home and Away.

"I came into The Gap program tired of feeling like I was failing in the thing that I loved," Leeuwenhart said.

"I wanted to be a world-class actor but was lacking the ability, knowhow and confidence to be there.

"The Actors’ Hub training was individualised and helped me to be a better actor, teaching me how to take characters from the page and bring them to life, as well as different techniques and different styles of theatre.

"Even more surprising was learning how to be an entrepreneur and gaining the ability to run my acting career with a business mindset.

"Knowing how to produce shows and film projects and knowing how to network are invaluable skills."

Since signing with Morrissey Management, Leeuwenhart has auditioned for film and television roles across Australia, New York and London.

"The Actors’ Hub never gave up on me, regardless of the stumbles and ups and downs that came with my growth," he said.

"For every time I said ‘help me’ someone was there to teach, guide and coach me into being a better actor, entrepreneur and person."

Tomaszewski echoed similar sentiments.

"In the beginning, I did many courses to help with my acting but nothing really hit my core with the training I wanted or needed," he said.

"The Gap went further than any course I know by training you not just in the practice of performance but also in self-development.

"The Actors’ Hub helped me reach my goals by being there for every step of my journey, tailoring my training to hit weaknesses in my acting and personal habits to make them strengths.

"Other goals were vocal projection, physical and emotional connection to character and having the tools needed to thrive in the industry.

"Without all that help, I wouldn’t have been signed to an agency—a major goal we had set."

The Actors’ Hub is the brainchild of Amanda Crewes, who developed the intensive Gap course to help people get into the national and international industry by offering performance opportunities, vocal and physical training, career support and education on handling professional acting careers.

"We take our investment in our actors seriously—when they sign up with us we make a commitment to supporting them throughout their career, which makes The Actors’ Hub the leader in training for the actor entrepreneur," she said.

"We challenge our actors to go beyond what they thought they were capable of, through the systems we have created for them, based on our experiences of navigating the pathway into and through the industry."
