Broderick Smith

Broderick Smith is one of Australia's foremost songsmiths, an honest and distinctive singer and songwriter and a formidable harmonica player. It's fair to call him an elder statesman of Australian music. His career began back in the mid '60s, when he joined the Adderley Smith Blues Band. Subsequent bands included boogie 'n' blues outfit Carson and Aussie country-rock band The Dingoes, whose hits included 'Way Out West' and 'Boy On The Run'. Over the last decade, he has regularly performed as part of the iconic blues trio, The Backsliders.

Currently, Brod performs (vocals, harmonica, guitar) in duo format, with Richard Tankard (from Blue Heat, Geoff Achison's Soul Diggers and Tank Dilemma) on keyboards. Expect a program of new and old Brod Smith originals, combining elements of blues, folk, country and rock music in a style that could not be mistaken for anyone else.

Matt Walker

Guitarist, singer and songwriter Matt Walker has done the hard yards, working with many leading artists on the Australian rock scene (to name a few : Tex Perkins, Kim Salmon, Ash Davies, Mick Harvey, Broderick Smith, Archie Roach and Rob Hirst). Not before time, he has begun to enjoy more widespread recognition as a solo artist in his own right. His album Soul Witness won the 2000 ARIA Award for Best Blues/Roots Album.

Guitar maestro Jeff Lang (who would know) says of him, "Matt is that rarest of beasts—an incredible instrumentalist who doesn't appear to care if anyone notices."
