A hilarious, heartfelt and delicious cabaret experience, Cake Daddy follows one man’s journey from highly successful calorie-counting Slimmer of the Year – ‘balls-deep in diet culture’ – to his life-changing encounter with his glorious inner fat superhero, Cake Daddy.

Irish stage sensation Ross Anderson-Doherty stars in the electric Cake Daddy, bringing his personal experience and phenomenal voice to the stage in this inventive queer hybrid of disco-pop, cabaret and theatre.

Cake Daddy skewers the ridiculousness of diet culture, belting sassy songs and playing interactive games — with stickers! — before taking us on a very personal journey towards accepting and loving oneself through a queer response to the phobia that exists around diverse bodies.

Be moved, and maybe even sing along, as Ross joyfully, angrily and uproariously unpacks the intricacies of this weighty issue through song, conversation and cake – baked fresh every day.

Irish collaborators Ross Anderson-Doherty and Marty Byrne (To Build a Bear, Qabarett) team up with Australian wreckedAllprods duo Alyson Campbell and Lachlan Philpott (Bison, The Trouble with Harry, Colder, GL RY) to shake, slap and bake this wonderful, chequered Battenberg of a show at Theatre Works. The cherry on top of this international cake mix is the sublime artwork and costumes of Uruguayan artist Leho de Sosa.

The work has been in development in Australia and Ireland with the support of The British Council, The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, The Australia Council and Outburst Queer Arts Festival.
