Emerging Sunbury artist Bree Morrison's exhibition is an abstract styled natural delight on a variety of canvas types. Her works are intricately layered and textured evoking the feeling of a range landscapes in the mind. Bree's fast moving and free flowing style is evident in the flow her works.

From the artist:

"When I think of my connection to nature, my mind flickers back to my childhood spent growing up in a tiny remote town nestled into the junction of two beautiful red gum lined river banks. Living only metres from the river banks, my childhood was spent exploring these gorgeous ecosystems and observing how the ebb and flow of the changing seasons brought about changes and shifts in light, landscapes, and life within them.

My paintings are intuitive and made quickly. I aim to capture the mood or feeling of the piece by using vivid but earthy colour palette’s, overlayed with patterns, visible brush stokes, textures and abstraction.

They are a reflection of the nature that surrounds me, but they are also a snippet into an inner world. A place that I can escape the everyday. They are also link to my memories, the feelings, emotions and connections evoked by growing up amongst magnificent landscapes and details of nature.

Through my work I want to bring the outside world in, and the inner world out, in a way that communicates a whimsical and nostalgic beauty through simplification, stylisation and abstraction, busy, layered compositions and earthy atmospheric colour schemes.

This exhibition is a reflection of the journey I have committed to, of building my art practice after a long hiatus. Born out of a deep desire to reconnect with my creativity and somehow forge a new identity for myself since becoming a mother. This desire also sees me wanting to be a mother who shows her children that it is ok to be brave enough to embrace your passions and follow your dreams."

The exhibition is free to view, accessible for walkers, wheelchairs, and prams.
