Celebrating Two 19th Century Women.
A trio of passionate and dedicated musicians performs a concert of Romantic chamber music. “Celebrations” commemorates two inspiring women of the 19th Century, the 200th birthday of brilliant composer and pianist, Clara Schumann and the creative talent of her friend, Fanny Mendelssohn.
Winston Churchill Fellow, concert pianist, artistic director and music educator Grace Kim, Sydney Symphony Principal Violinist, Marina Marsden and Sydney Symphony cellist, Kristy Conrau perform the beautiful Piano Trios of Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn alongside Clara’s charming Violin Romances and Fanny’s captivating Cello Fantasia.
Grace Kim believes that quality live music should be accessible to everyone with a desire to hear it. Her Sensory Concerts and Mountain Concerts series ensure that it does. As a concerto soloist, Grace has performed with major symphony orchestras of Australasia, Belgium, Turkey, Russia and the Ukraine. She remains one of the most respected musicians in Australia, able to attract internationally-recognised peers to perform at her Mountain Concerts and Sensory Concerts series.
Sydney Symphony Orchestra colleagues, Marina Marsden and Kristy Conrau share Grace’s love of chamber music and both perform regularly in the SSO’s Sydney Opera House Utzon Room series. Marina is also a Winston Churchill Fellow and has recorded several CDs of chamber music. Kristy, a former Sydney Symphony Fellow, enjoyed international success as a chamber music player before joining the SSO’s cello section.
