Cherry Blossom Festival 2019

Make it blossom at World Square this August with an interactive Cherry Blossom augmented reality experience!

Visitors to the CBD shopping precinct can join in the interactive big-screen experience and download the World Square app to walk through the Torii Gate and see the centre explode into a Cherry Blossom spectacle through augmented reality.

Join us in the Square every 15 minutes from 8am to 10pm daily to help the digital Cherry Blossom tree bloom by playing a series of AR games including a Taiko drumming circle, Calligraphy dancing or the Nara Park deer encounter.

Cultural activities will run throughout the last two weeks of the festival including traditional Japanese drumming; calligraphy performances; personalised origami and bonsai workshops; and traditional Yosaki Soran dancing.

Visitors can also test their paper-folding skills and contribute to the 1,000 cranes origami challenge, brew matcha flavoured tea with T2 or make their own sushi with Sushi Hub during the festival.
