For the last Open Day of 2019, on December 1 from 1pm to 3pm, the Friends of ANZAC Cottage Inc is going all 'Christmassy'. The story of the 1914 Christmas Truce, when a temporary peace silenced the guns for a short time, will be featured. We will be inviting visitors to help us to decorate the ‘veteran’s’ Christmas tree whilst remembering those who were not able to join their families at Christmas because of their defence duties.
A display of facsimiles of Christmas cards sent by the troops to those back home will be on display. And, for those who would like to choose something a little different for those difficult -to-buy-for people on your Christmas list, a great range of affordable, unique and different gift ideas are available at the Cottage.
Entry is free and afternoon tea is available for a gold coin donation. For more information, please email Anne on chapan@highway1.com.au, or call 0411 44 55 82.
