In this year’s show, Kirrikin will be showcasing its Saltwater Dreaming Collection. This year’s resort collection will feature artworks from recognised aboriginal artists—Emma Kerslake, Shane Hansen and Helena Geiger.
The collection features artwork by Menang Gnudju Noongar woman and artist Kiya Watt, Kalkadoon woman and artist Glenda McCulloch, Ngarrindgeri woman and artist Amanda Westley and screen-printed Designs from Injalak art centre and Babbarra Women’s Centre.
The show will show a more versatile collection, featuring the beautiful colours of Summer and Autumn in flowing fabrics, and gorgeous feminine shapes to suit all our warmer weather casual but dressy day and night wear.
New collaborations with artists are released every season following the Noongar six seasons and the Djilba Collection will be revealed on the Fashion Central runway. The show will also highlight Rebecca Barlow’s Deadly Denim—a social enterprise fashion label sharing culture and story on upcycled denim jackets and bags.
Deadly Denim collaborates exclusively with Individual Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artist around Australia showcasing their art work on fabric and denim. Deadly Denim also showcases screen-printed fabrics from remote Northern Territory art centres such as Injalak Arts (Gunbalanya) and Bábbarra Women’s Centre (Maningrida).
