Blokepedia, along with our sponsor, EFEX, invites you to join us for some great conversation and pizza as we discuss men's health and wellbeing.

Our guest speakers, Billy Moore, and Dr. Clive Williams will be sharing stories and exploring topics such as change, resilience, and communication. Billy and Clive will then join our MC, Matt Collins, for a panel discussion and Q & A.

Guest Speakers:

Billy Moore

During his career, Billy Moore played a total of three caps for Australia, including being a part of the 1995 Rugby League World Cup winning side in England, 17 caps for Queensland in the State of Origin and 212 games for North Sydney Bears in National Rugby League.

In 2000, Billy was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his contribution to Australia’s international standing in rugby league. In 2006 he was named in the North Sydney Bears’ Team of the Century. After retiring from the game in 1999 at the age of 28, Billy made an extremely successful move into the hospitality industry. His Earth Bistro Wine Bar on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast was named Restaurant and Catering Australia Runner-Up Tourist Restaurant of Year in 2001, along with 23 other awards.

Despite its success, Billy described running a restaurant and wine bar for seven years as twice as hard as rugby league and moved out of the industry swearing never to return. That was until he saw an opportunity with another restaurant—Augellos Mooloolaba, winner of the Global Pizza Challenge 2010 and 2012—and is now back in the ever competitive, ever challenging world of small business.

Dr. Clive Williams

Dr. Clive Williams is a psychologist with 35 years’ experience with a particular focus on the story of change: how change occurs. Clive’s examination of the Hero’s Journey led him to propose the idea that the Hero’s Journey provides a mudmap for daily living. For the past 25 years, Clive has focused on the application of the Hero’s Journey as a mudmap for change and applying this mudmap with clients dealing with anxiety and mood disorders, addictions, relationship therapy, family problems, and workplace stresses. He has yet to find one situation where the Hero’s Journey could not be used as a daily guide to assist change. These ideas of the Hero’s Journey as a mudmap for living providing strategies for dealing with modern life are articulated in his book A Mudmap for Living.

Clive has presented his ideas at the Hero Roundtable in Geelong Victoria (2015), Bond University Wellness Forum (2016), the first Heroism Science Conference at Murdoch University He has run a workshop at Hero Roundtable Michigan 2016, USA and continues to provide these in regular classes and workshops.
