Cookin' On 3 Burners are a hard-hitting Hammond Organ trio, whose music joins the dots between deep funk, raw soul, organ jazz and boogaloo. Formed back in 1997, the Burners lineup originally was Jake Mason on the Hammond organ, Lance Ferguson on guitar and Ivan Khatchoyan on drums. Lance's workload with The Bamboos led to him bowing out back in 2009, to be replaced by another Melbourne guitarist adept at jazz, funk and related styles, Dan West. With a decade of gigging and recording behind them, Jake, Ivan and Dan are as in-sync as you could want a band to be.

The band was originally formed to celebrate the classic funky, soulful organ jazz records of the '50s-'70s, on such iconic labels as Blue Note, Prestige, Groove Merchant and Verve. Jazz with a healthy percentage of blues and gospel in its DNA. But the Burners have gone beyond that worthy goal, reinventing the classic genre to make it relevant and vital for today's musically-aware audience.

In 2002, they released their first 7" single (Gravel Rash / Pie Warmer) under the Bamboo Shack label, and by the summer of 2009, the band was number 1 on the UK iTunes RnB charts with the track 'This Girl' (featuring Kylie Auldist). In between, Cookin' On 3 Burners made their home at esteemed U.K label Freestyle Records, had songs featured on a string of hit TV shows and played alongside major acts such as Quantic, Alice Russell, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings and Fat Freddie's Drop.

Their sixth album, 'Blind Bet', featured string and horn arrangements by Ross Irwin, and guest vocals from Daniel Merriweather, Tex Perkins, Kylie Auldist, Harry James Angus and Jason Heerah. In 2016, they collaborated with French electronic producer Kungs on a reworking of "This Girl", which topped the charts in Europe, and was the year's most Shazamed dance track in the world. In 2017 Cookin' On 3 Burners collaborated with UK based artist Emmi and released remixed material on the Warner Music label with producers including Lenno, Niklas Ibach, Funk LeBlanc and Yolanda Be Cool. Last year saw the release of two albums, Lab Experiments Volume 1 and Volume 2.

If you haven't seen Cookin' On 3 Burners live, you're in for a treat. Grab your oven gloves and join the band as they celebrate the future sound of yesterday. With special guest vocalist, Stella Angelico.
