What is a coolamon? A coolamon traditionally is made from wood and is like a big oval bowl. They are traditionally used for holding bush tucker when you go collecting in the bush. They also held babies when mothers would rock them to sleep.
Kids are invited to join two Baluk artists to learn how to create their very own clay coolamon and use natural ochres to paint their designs. Kids will also use a variety of Aboriginal symbols to paint and mark into their very own coolamon to take home.
