About the film:

Winner of seven prizes for best documentary/ non-fiction film, including the 1995 Grand Jury Prize Documentary at Sundance Film Festival, Crumb chronicles the career of underground cartoonist Robert Crumb (R. Crumb).

R. Crumb is the artist behind iconic works including Keep On Truckin’ and Fritz the Cat, and he played a major pioneering role in the genesis of underground comix. Focusing on the experiences, characters and family of R. Crumb, the film features interviews with the cartoonist’s family, wife and children, shedding light on his psychology and darkly cynical perspective on life.

Trivia bite: During the nine years it took to make this film, financially-struggling director Terry Zwigoff lived on around $200 a month and suffered from crippling back pain and chronic depression.
