A sea of whimsical creatures, lights and lanterns are set to take up residence in the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens. The MECC Festival and Lighting Team has partnered with local artists to bring you DBCT Illuminate 3.0.

Following a huge turnout in 2017 and 2018, DBCT Illuminate returns to offer the ultimate free family night out. This year will also include the talents of abstract impressionist artist BJ Price. Keep an eye out for his sensational turtle Alphie, although he may be hard to miss!

Lighting up the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens for five nights (from Monday to Friday) take the self-guided tour through the garden paths filled with creations made at local schools, dreamt up in whimsical workshops and enhanced with beautiful lighting.

Jack Sturgeon Stage:
Make a night of it at DBCT Illuminate, bring a chair or picnic blanket and settle in under the stars and enjoy the free local entertainment on the Jack Sturgeon Stage featuring a variety of local performances from 6pm to 9pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights.

How To Get There:
DBCT Illuminate will ONLY be accessible from the Meadowlands Amphitheatre side. Access via Crowley’s Road.
There will be NO ACCESS via Lagoon Street pathways or Nebo Road. These areas will be fenced off.

Eat + Drink:
Grab a bite to eat from one of the many food vendors onsite or pre-order a MECC Picnic Platter.

Parking:
There will be additional parking available at the event in the Meadowlands Amphitheatre carpark and the adjacent block of land. Please follow the instructions of parking marshalls and drive safely in congested areas.

ATM:
There will be an ATM onsite.
