After two sold our concerts in 2018 at The Founders Room, Harry Edwards and Charlie McCarthy are excited to announce a brand new show this coming July. This new limited concert series will focus exclusively on the original compositions of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.

Legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt and virtuoso violinist Stephane Grappelli were two of the most influential musicians of the 20th Century. The musical style of the "Hot Club of France" defined a genre and was the soundtrack of Europe's emerging string jazz scene for decades.

Hobart based gypsy jazz musicians Harry Edwards (lead guitar) and Charlie McCarthy (violin) will perform two 45-minute sets comprised of a selection of compositions written by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.

There will be two performances held on Saturday July 27th. For those interested in coming along to both performances, it's worth noting that whilst the repertoire will be the same at each concert, the improvisations of the performing musicians will be different.

Expect to hear popular tunes such as 'Django's Castle,' 'Douce Ambiance,' and 'Swing 42,' as well as more obscure and stylistically eclectic compositions such as 'Django's Waltz,' 'Anouman,' and 'Impromptu.' Harry and Charlie will be joined by Felicity Lovett (rhythm guitar), and Isaac Gee (double bass), for a fun night of swinging hot gypsy jazz.

Just like the 2018 concerts, this new show will be interspersed with stories and legends of Django's adventures. Missed out on last years show? Here are some selected clips from the April 2018 performance:

"Sweet Georgia Brown"
"Sweet Sue"
"Tears"
"Blue Drag"

Bar with drinks & refreshments available before each performance and at the interval.

Matinee performance:

Doors from 1:30pm. Show starts at 2pm and will consist of 2 x 45 minute sets with a 20–30-minute interval.

Evening performance:

Doors from 7:30pm. Show starts at 8pm and will consist of 2 x 45-minute sets with a 20–30-minute interval.
