Midsumma Festival

In times of increasing acceptance of sexual and gender diversity, are some of our community being left behind? What is our role as a community to ensure equity for all? Join us for an evening of discussion and hear lived experiences from members of our community about life as an LGBTIQ person with a disability.

The Gay and Lesbian Foundation of Australia (GALFA) is a national philanthropic foundation whose purpose is to provide funds for charitable activities that benefit lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and allied communities in Australia. Our focus is to ensure equity for all members of the community and to address areas of disadvantage and exclusion that still exist. We do this by providing social impact grants and advocating for systemic change at a micro and macro level.

After bursting onto the performance scene in 2010, QUIPPINGS has become one of Melbourne’s most dynamic and provocative performance troupes for people of all persuasions and body types. For Midsumma 2019 they take a retreat from presenting a show and instead join GALFA in a night to talk about the state of play for Deaf and Disabled people in Australia today. The panel features Kath Duncan and is hosted by one of Australia's leading advocates and social policymakers, Rhonda Galbally.

GALFA is proud to present this event in partnership with QUIPPINGS: Disability Unleashed.
