Ears to the Ground is a new evening series where contemporary bands and artists can take over the ground level stage for a night of their music—whatever that may be. Each night will be taken over by a new artist and sound for you to discover and this July we have Athésia.

Sydney-based songstress Athésia is an international singer-songwriter specialising in French and Haitian music. Described as the Haitian Canadian Creole jazz singer with a French touch, Athésia has performed in the past in Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Haiti, and the United States, and was invited by the Consulate of Canada to sing in Vietnam during the celebration of La Francophonie.

For one night only in Angel Place, discover the aromas of Haiti and France and dance to the rhythms of compas, mini jazz, twoubadou, zouk and meringue. Athésia will be surrounded by her talented musicians; Michael Coggins (Guitar), Giorgio Rojas (Percussion/Drums), Danny Junor (Saxophone) and Tina Harris (Bass). Expect a hot and enchanting evening of song and dance, with the chance to savour the flavours of Haiti and France without ever leaving Sydney!

This concert is held in the City Recital Hall ground level foyer and bar. Seating is arranged in a cocktail/lounge style and is general admission. The bar is open to ticket holders from 6pm.
