Lyric Opera brings the historic Australian opera Fly back to the stage in this intimate production at fortyfive downstairs, in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. This innovative production takes audiences into the life of the Australian explorer and aeronautical engineer Lawrence Hargrave.

This production will rediscover the brilliance of Lawrence Hargrave’s mind and the beauty of renowned Melbourne composer Barry Conyngham’s music. It will be a rare chance to see and hear our history and identity in this suitably Melbourne opera experience.

The production is directed by Lara Kerestes who leads an acclaimed cast including international baritone Sam Roberts-Smith, and conducted by Lyric’s artistic director Pat Miller.
