Patina Productions @ Limelight on Oxford presents Pulitzer prize nominated classic Fool for Love by Sam Shepard.

First up for 2019 in new boutique performance venue, Limelight on Oxford in Darlinghurst is the Pulitzer prize nominated classic, Fool for Love by Sam Shepard. This vicious, passionate and darkly funny play has a two week season in the Limelight Room. Eddie and May meet up in a run-down motel at the edge of the Mojave Desert, rekindling their explosive and damaging love affair.

Lachlan Ruffy and Kate Betcher play the troubled lovers who are reunited for the umpteenth time when Eddie tracks May down at a seedy motel. Sam Shepard’s flair for the damaged is in full flight as they verbally tear into each other and the details of their dark secrets are revealed. Hard-hitting and heart-breaking, the audience will be exposed to the emotional, physical and sexual aggression for which Shepard’s work is known.

Sam Shepard was an American actor, playwright, author, screenwriter, and director whose career spanned half a century. He won ten Obie Awards for writing and directing, the most won by any writer or director including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1979 for his play Buried Child. New York magazine described Shepard as "the greatest American playwright of his generation."

First performed in 1983, this revival production of Fool for Love is directed by Limelight on Oxford and Patina Productions founder Julie Baz and designed by co-founder David Jeffrey. The cast features three young WAPPA trained actors Kate Betcher, Lachlan Ruffy and Joel Horwood, along with veteran actor Neil McLeod.

Housed in a beautiful old three level terrace, Limelight on Oxford provides an array of enticing entertainment and events, accompanied by tasty food and tantalising drinks. The Limelight Room on Level 2 is a boutique and intimate performance space. Patina Productions curates, develops and supports the plays and musicals presented in the Limelight Room at Limelight on Oxford.

"Affordable chic is rare in Sydney these days and Limelight on Oxford offers it up in spades." ‐ Lisa Thatcher
