A popular and much talked about event around Melbourne since its launch in January 2018, Gay Life Drawing Melbourne is created by artist Jean-Luc Syndikas. A monthly event held at Hares & Hyenas, it is for adults to partake in a fun, friendly space of self-expression, enjoy a drink and draw live models. We invite experienced artists, beginners with no experience and curious cats of all walks to attend. Each session is artfully themed, alternating between male, female and gender diverse models, with sometimes multiple models posing together. Themes reflect queer culture, art and cinema. Running throughout Midsumma to celebrate its first year, for Midsumma 2019 Hares & Hyenas houses an exhibition of selected works by participants who have attended the various themed sessions throughout the year.
Art works will be on sale and can be viewed daily at the venue for free admission during opening hours. As well as this, on the night of 21 January join us for a special themed life drawing session and exhibition celebration to kick off the new year, with four models posing and paying homage to the cult 70s midnight classic Rocky Horror Picture Show. Ticket-holders only.
