Fashion. It's beautiful, it's fun, it brings us joy; yet, it is also one of the most polluting industries in the world. From production to disposal, fashion is messy and not designed to be reused. Rather, when its done being used it ultimately ends up in landfill or incineration. Our consumption adds up: In Australia alone, we throw out 6 tonnes or 6,000 kgs of clothing textiles every 10 minutes.

No thanks to that we say! This clothing swap is a way for you to consciously dispose of the loved pieces you no longer wear, or are a bit bored with, and swap with new friends. It is just like shopping a friend's closet—but now we are looping in 100 new friends!

The swap is simple, no money changes hands and everyone is invited; however, venue space is limited so there are only a set number of spots available. Proceeds are going to care, a charity working to bring #MeToo to the garment industy and stop sexual harassment.

Each participant can bring up to 7 items of clothing. All styles are welcome—modern, vintage, clothing, shoes, and accessories. Only rule is that they must be in good condition. We want to encourage quality swapping—so think Zara and Country Road over KMart and Target (e.g., minimum original RRP of $30). Clothes MUST be clean and free of stains, rips, pulls etc. Basically—we ask that it be of a quality that you would feel happy to give it to your bestie or have it given to you. If it is not, we may not be able to accept it for the swap. At the end, any clothing left over will be donated to the Red Cross.

Drop off runs between 11am and 12pm. During this hour, come on down to The Left Bank, check in, and one of our volunteers will collect, sort, and hang up your preloved pieces. Items will be screend to ensure a fair swap for all. For each item that you bring, you will receive a button in exchange - dont lose these! Buttons are your currency for the swap and you will need them when you check out. After the "swap shop" is set up, we will give an intro and explain the rules for the day and how to "shop". The swap will open from 12:15 to 3pm. More details will be explained on the day.

During the downtime, The Left Bank will be open for service. Its a family friendly venue, so please feel welcome to bring down your kids and partners, have a lunch, and enjoy a day by the river with some quality fashion. There is parking on site, but we always encourage carpool and public transport (Fremantle or North Fremantle stations are nearby).

Fashion Revolution Week: April 22-28, 2019
Fashion Revolution is a global movement that runs all year long. With ambassadors and revolutionaries all over the world, they celebrate fashion as a positive influence while also scrutinizing industry practices and raising awareness of the fashion industry’s most pressing issues. They aim to show that change is possible and encourage those who are on a journey to create a more ethical and sustainable future for fashion.

Fashion Revolution was born on 24 April 2013, the day the Rana Plaza factory collapsed in Bangaldesh, killing 1,138 people and injuring many more. Fashion Revolution Week runs the week surrounding this day, and encourages customers to ask brands #WhoMadeMyClothes, and for brands and producers to respond with the hashtag #IMadeYourClothes and to demonstrate transparency in their supply chain.

Sorry, there are no Refunds for this Event, but you can transfer/sell your ticket to a friend. This Event is fully volunteer based, and all tickets sales are going to Charity to help vulnerable women in fashion's supply chain.
