The Jazz & Blues Collective invites you to our December 1st Christmas Special: A Jazz N Blues Sunday with Nicole Parker-Brown & The Jazz Kings.

The Jazz Kings are very experienced mix of well-known musicians from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Once you have seen them you won't forget them as they are loved by audiences everywhere they perform. Jazz is the band’s main genre, but they also swing, play the blues and recently had everyone up dancing with rockabilly and country music so they are a very versatile band.

The Talent: Nicole Parker-Brown (vocalist), Gordon Matheson (guitar), Russell Bayne (guitar), Rod Ford (drums), Peter Uppman (trumpet) & John Conley (bass). Both Uppman and Nicole share the vocals but they also have a 3rd vocalist who is Rod the drummer.

The lead singer Nicole Parker-Brown is a most sought after performer in her own right. Nicole has been surrounded by music since she was born and has been singing Jazz and Blues most of her life. She has travelled extensively in Europe and the UK following the jazz and blues scene and returned home to the Gold Coast where she has made her mark with her "Kitschy/Bluesy/Jazzy/Groovy" style.

She has been a regular performer at Night Quarter, Blues on Broadbeach, Broadbeach Jazz Festival and as well as the Jazz Kings, she has a show called The Late Late Show which is always a sell-out.
Her repertoire is inspired by Nina Simone, Bessie Smith, Diana Krall and Ella Fitzgerald and many other legendary ladies of Jazz and Blues. She has performed at many venues with greats such as the late Wiley Reed and has written and recorded many of her own songs.

Band members are:
Peter Uppman’s multi award-winning style is instantly recognisable, receiving accolade after accolade for his work as a world-class trumpeter, singer, songwriter and entertainer.

Gordon Matheson’s reputation as a gifted and talented guitarist launched a career which spanned over 50 years performing with world class acts such as The Seekers, Liza Minnelli, Peter Allen, John Farnham, Tina Arena, Winifred Atwell and many others.

Russell Bayne would be one of the most versatile and sought-after guitarists in this country. He has been playing guitar for 50 years and a professional musician for 45 years. He has a wealth of experience including working with Chuck Berry, Jerry Lewis, Shirley Bassey, The Monkees, Pavarotti, Kiri Ti Kanawa, Bon Scott (AC/DC), James Morrison, Don Burrows, Ricky May, Normie Rowe, Billy Fields, Tina Arena, Rolf Harris, Barry Crocker, Jackie Trent, Debbie Byrne, etc.. etc...—the list goes on and on.

John Conley has played and recorded with many bands during this period including Winnifred Atwell, The Four Kinsmen, Errol Buddle and Col Nolan. In 1981 John became a member of the well-known Jazz Band Galapagos Duck and toured and recorded extensively with this band and is still a member.
Rodney Ford trained and plays many instruments, but the drum kit became Rodney’s primary instrument and his affinity with this instrument lead to engagements with the theatre producers JC Williamson’s. Rodney played drums for ‘The Wiz’, ‘Man of La Mancha’ and ‘Chorus Line’ among others. Rodney is also a member of the well-known Jazz Band Galapagos Duck and toured and recorded extensively with this band.

Look forward to a great Swinging Jazz N Blues Christmas special event.
